Abdelajlil Saouli
Abdeljalil Saouli was born in Fez in 1984 and is graduated from the INBA of Tetouan in 2012.
From his village of Moulay Bouchta, where he lives and works since 2015, Abdeljalil Saouli privileges modes of production grounded in an interaction with multiple practices related to architecture and habitat, to working the land and to the natural environment. His research often adopts figures of hybridity such as grafting, borrowing or cross-breeding, which lead to multiple qualifications of forms and reveal generating possibilities, from their material sources to their visual expressions.
Hybridization even interrogates the very notion of the medium. The latter translates both the material used and the intention of the artist using it, with concrete repercussions of the artwork. This indeed portrays a set of intersecting knowledge and gestures in which the presence of the tool and traces of orality become sometimes visible.
