Fritz Ruprechter
Fritz Ruprechter is an Austrian abstract artist born in 1950. He studied applied arts, painting and graphics in Austria, Holland and Ireland between 1972 and 1976. For his art, he also traveled to Egypt, Japan and South America, where he did a residency in Santiago, Chile. He studied He has exhibited in many group and solo exhibitions internationally.
Fritz Ruprechter’s pictures fulfill a mission of a very different kind: they make us the gift of an honest, quiet, calming, rather formally elegant pictorial aesthetic with a poetics of its own; they give us hope and confidence in the creative potential of man and artist. And it is art of this kind that we are most in need of today, because “Art cannot change the world, but it can make it better and more bearable.” (Dostoyevsky).

Central to all of Fritz Ruprechter’s installations are the treatment of space and the perception of space in general. Often the artist invites photographers and artists from his circle of friends to document these projects. As in architecture, where space is created by the interplay of architectural elements and objects found at the site, Fritz Ruprechter also focuses his attention on breaks and irregularities in the execution of a wall, on windows and window niches, columns and pillars, on the fall of light or the qualities of walls, floors and ceilings.
