Kim Bora

Kim Bora, an art critic and art journalist, has been working for the Korea Economic Media Group, a leading South Korean business publication, since 2006. In 2024, she launched the [arte] website (www.arte.co.kr) and mobile application, which cover key issues and reviews in the arts and culture sector, and in May 2025, she launched [arte Magazine], serving as its editor-in-chief.

Travelling between Seoul, New York, London, Venice, Miami, Basel, Paris and Tokyo, she has conducted in-depth interviews with figures from various fields at the forefront of the contemporary art world, introducing them to her readers.

She has built a network of over 1,000 art critics worldwide, focusing on ensuring that diverse opinions and perspectives are widely disseminated to a broader audience. She is helping curious readers across Asia to find inspiration in life through the stories of more artists.

There are no genre distinctions here. It encompasses everyone from masters of the classical music world (Myung-whun Chung, Jaap van Zweden) to rising stars (Klaus Mäkelä, Cho Seong-jin), as well as figures from the worlds of film (Director Park Chan-wook), architecture (Kengo Kuma) and female artists (Louise Bourgeois, Lee Bul, Kim Yun-shin, Es Devlin, Yang Hye-kyu, Candida Höfer) are all presented in a fresh light through her writing.

She is currently conducting research at the University of Applied Arts Vienna (Angewandte) on the theme ‘The New Future Envisioned by Art in the Age of AI’. She plans to take an in-depth look at how a city that has been the centre of European art for hundreds of years embraces and interacts with contemporary artists. She also plans to invite multinational artists from across borders to the arte Art Centre, scheduled for completion in Seoul in 2028.
