“Boujloud, l’homme aux peaux”
From, by and with Kenza Berrada
Sound creation: Kinda Hassan
Dramaturgical collaboration: Chloé Lavalette
(duration 1h)
Boujloud (the man with skins, in Darija) is an ancient ritual coming after the sacrifice of the sheep, whose origins are about divine punishment. A man who abused women in a sacred place, got metamorphosed into a human-animal.
“I did not think my story would interest anyone.”
This saying made H. confide to him that Kenza Berrada wrote, directed and performed a show on the issue of abuse. She meets assaulted victims, listens to them, gives them a voice and a body. The addition of the singular voices ends up making a crowd.
It is a secret and yet, omnipresent continent that finally emerges: that of those who experienced abuse.
In her own way, she tries to answer them and raise the ever-recurring questions: how do you make yourself heard? Is there a “right time” to speak and be listened to?
This evening is organized thanks to the support of the Goethe-Institut Marokko.
