During her residency at Le Cube, Chiara Ianeselli, currently working on the development of MAXXI Med, in Sicily, will continue her research on the expansion of imaginative relationships in the Mediterranean area.
In her exploration, she delves into the real and imaginary, where intangible and experimental methods of art making generate conduits, transcending linguistic and cultural barriers, dismantling – not traversing, frontiers.
She is, as a researcher, looking carefully into the intricate tapestry composed as much as ethereal and as tangible, while attempting to weave threads of shared experiences, connecting Morocco to Italy, and to elsewhere, to places she has never been.
She is keen on tracing veiled legends, shrouded and forgotten memories, which will perhaps be echoed through the channel of Sicily, reaching the continent.
Her guiding research inquiry dances around the mystique of the word “Mediterranean,” liberated of its ties to the sea, to the land, from its coastal connotations.
Is its enduring essence still floating in today’s world?
