During her residency, Khadija El Abyad is developing her ongoing projects. A presentation of her research is going to take place at Le Cube as a follow up to her residency.
Khadija El Abyad is a multidisciplinary Moroccan artist, born in 1991 in Agadir. She lives and works in Rabat.
After she got her BA in Hispanic fundamental studies, she joined the National School of Fine Arts in Tetouan. There, she graduated in arts with honors. Her practice is focalized on the body, especially in the face of the constraint. Her own body serves as a matrix, medium and raw material that she transforms it into a plastic language.
Her chosen themes are the mirrors of identity, the constraints of control and especially the human condition that she puts at the center of her work. Through her body, Khadija questions the bodily identity of humans by positioning the spectator in the face od his internal and external wounds, in the face of his skin-language.
Her passion for experimentation enables her to choose different contemporary mediums of expression like video arts, photography, installations and drawings…
Since 2015, she started to participate in events such as the « Instants Vidéo Numériques et Poétiques » video art festival in Marseille, as well as several national and international exhibitions.
She also took part in several residencies. Among the latter are a residency in the Marrakech Biennal, for its 6th edition, and the Residence in Trankat, Tetouan.
Currently, she is preparing her solo exhibition in Paris and has joined the team of l’Appartement 22.
