Anja Manfredi

Anja Manfredi (*1978 in Lienz) lives and works in Vienna at the intersection of photography and installation.
Her artistic focus is on the visualization of emancipatory gestures, bodies and stories that are often overlooked in social or historical contexts. She works primarily with analog photographic techniques.

Manfredi completed her master’s degree at the Academy of Fine Art in Vienna (2005 Eva Schlegel and Josephine Pryde) and School for Artistic Photography Vienna, Friedl Kubelka (1999). In 2022, Anja Manfredi earned her doctorate with research on Gesture in the Image, Felicitas Thun-Hohenstein and Nicole Haitzinger, Institute for Art and Cultural Studies at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna.
Manfredi is since 2010 Artistic Director of the School Friedl Kubelka for artistic photography, Vienna.
