In November 2025, Austrian artist Anja Manfredi will undertake a residency at Le Cube – independent art room to advance her ongoing project Atlas.
Through analogue photography, the project traces the mythological figure of Atlas as a point of departure for a visual compendium on notions of space, endurance, and empowerment. The project unfolds through gestures of carrying and bearing, reflecting on the physical and symbolic weight of worlds.
During her residency, Manfredi will deepen this research in resonance with local contexts and communities. In dialogue with Moroccan artist Ziad Naitaddi, whose current project The Presents examines the aftermath of the High Atlas earthquake in collaboration with Le Cube and the Heinrich Böll Foundation Rabat, the residency will open up shared perspectives on landscape, resilience, and representation.
The public program, including a talk and an open studio, will be enriched by the contributions of Austrian curator Nicole Haitzinger.
The project is supported by the Austrian Federal Ministry for Housing, Arts, Culture, Media and Sport.
