Hanan Benammar

Hanan Benammar (born in 1989) is an Algerian/French artist based in Oslo who works conceptually on geopolitical, environmental and social issues. She also organises and curates art projects as part of her artistic practice. Benammar holds an MA from the Art Academy of Oslo (Norway) and a second MA from the Dutch Art Institute (Netherlands).
She has exhibited and performed in numerous places.

Hanan Benammar is interested in concepts surrounding the multitude, multiple identities, pluriversal narratives and diversity within diversity, as modes of resistance against generalisations, categorizations and all stereotypical representations of the “multicultural” and “foreign”. Her work is built from the inescapable experience of being categorized, and would like to offer alternative ways of looking at and relating to each others.
