“Entre l’œil et l’oreille”
With her audio-visual compositions, Ellen Fellmann explores the differences between music and video, the points where the two meet, as well as the communication possibilities between these two forms of artistic expression. Given the fact that movement constitutes a point of structural intersection between film and music, it is a primordial element in her art. Sounds and images communicate, act like two protagonists of the same importance, with their own materiality and specific gestural strength.
Influenced by the philosopher Jacques Derrida and his theory of deconstruction, Ellen Fellmann explores the shocks and frictions produced by these different modes of communication and the meeting of their specific materiality that carries meaning.
The artist questions traditional categories, without any fusion of artistic forms or making them lose their identity. Her audiovisual compositions are based on the materiality of the mediums and enable the emergence of new artistic spaces where areas of contact and the boundaries between forms remain tangible.
During this event, Ellen Fellmann introduces her work and her approach on audiovisual compositions through her artworks.
The presentation is followed by an exchange with the public.
This talk is organized in partnership with the Goethe-Institut Marokko.
