The upcoming artist talk at Le Cube will present the latest project by Vienna-based artists Irena Eden and Stijn Lernout, developed during their second residency in May 2025. Building on their 2024 research into Lingua Franca Sabir—a Mediterranean contact language once used between the 13th and 19th centuries—the artists now focus on the word fantasia, described by sociolinguist Joana Nolan as a key term shaped by linguistic and cultural fusion.

In this new phase, Eden and Lernout explore fantasia as a lens for imagining the future. Through a workshop with young participants, they invite collective reflection via collage and multilingual texts, culminating in a choral sound piece and video work that reflects Morocco’s fluid linguistic landscape.
