As part of the exhibition Au-delà de toutes les mers, Soukaina Joual presents La Sheikha Soukaina Marocaine at La Condition Publique, a performance that explores the figure of the Moroccan sheikha with humor and sensitivity.
Through storytelling, performative reading, objects, sound recordings, and dance, the artist draws on her personal history as well as Moroccan and Mediterranean imaginaries. She explores representations of women through themes of witchcraft, superstition, media narratives, and stereotypes, while questioning the connections between feminism, power, identity, and social hierarchies.
The performance also features Rehab Mehal, Coralie Dubois, and Ismail Alaoui. It is presented in partnership with Le Cube – independent art room, with the support of, and as part of, Saison Méditerranée 2026, led by the Institut français.
