On the occasion of this evening event, Sido Lansari presents his approach and his projects of embroidery focused on the territory of the intimate.
For Sido Lansari, embroidery, the professional activity of his parents, is initially a simple hobby. In his series that tackle sex and dredge as a subject, the retained mediums, stitches and language are inspired from the expertise of the countries where he resided.
When the first French pieces consisted of a play of words, the most recent ones expose what is habitually silenced in a society where not only these subjects are not tackled openly, but also where homosexual relationships and intimate relationships outside marriage are prohibited by the law.
The subjects of language, translation and semantic shifts are also discussed during this talk.
The talk is part of the exhibition, هويات.أدوار. أجناس / Geschlechter. Rollen. Identitäten. / Genre(s). Rôle(s). Identité(s), curated by Katrin Ströbel and initiated by le Goethe-Institut Marokko.
