In the talk – in cooperation with the Heinrich Böll Foundation – organized as part of the finissage of the exhibition Les Palmiers Fatigués, Seif Kousmate, artist participating in the exhibition with his series WAHA, Salima S. El Mandjra, architect, landscape designer and writer, and Lisa Grosskopf, artist in residence at Le Cube, question our relationship to nature from different perspectives: the artificialization of our living spaces, the construction of tourist sites creating a microcosm out of context, the direct repercussions of climate change on oases, and the possible alternatives for development inspired by nature.

The starting point for the discussion is Lisa Grosskopf’s and Lena Schwingshandl’s video All mine, which relates their two-week immersion in an artificial holiday oasis, Tropical Islands, a few kilometers outside Berlin. The artists humorously question the imitation of nature and the stereotypes reproduced.

The talk, moderated by Elisabeth Piskernik, will be in English.
