For its participation in the 6th edition of POPPOSITIONS, Le Cube presents Al Amakine, une cartographie des vies invisibles* by Abdessamad El Montassir.
This project, initiated as part of the summer’s lab, at Le Cube – independent art room, follows the micro-stories of the Sahara in the south of Morocco where the artist highlights the itineraries of the local populations and the spaces carrying political, social and cultural events.
Through a set of photographs and sound works Abdessamad El Montassir seeks to create a new cartography of this territory and tends to complement the hegemonic visions that can be brought to certain invisible territories.
Conceived as an alternative experience to fairs, POPPOSITIONS proposes for its 6th edition projects that explore the problematic Don’t Agonize, Organize! and invite Le Cube to take part in this event.
By choosing the slogan Agonize, Organize !, inspired by the philosopher Rosi Braidotti, as leitmotif, and selecting projects that open possibilities, the edition of 2017 of POPPOSITION seeks to respond to the current political upheaval that we experience on a global scale.
* Al Amakine means the places in Arabic. Its title is taken from an eponymous text by Françoise Vergès.
