PROYECTOR is an annual festival that showcases videos through a program of projections, installations, performances, conferences and workshops.
For its 9th edition, Proyector invites Le Cube to show a selection of videos, and screens so far the short film La Grande Safae by Randa Maroufi and the video Récolte by Zainab Andalibe.
The project of Randa Maroufi was inspired by a character known as La Grande Safae. A transvestite, he spent part of his life as a domestic in the family of the artist, who was unaware of his “real” sexual identity. By mixing the true story with some fiction, Randa Maroufi questions the act of staging and the truthfulness of facts, while evoking the perception of identity disorder.
The work of Zainab Andalibe finds points of balance between aesthetic research and social context. Her works elicit reflection, and invite the spectators to give them a personal reading based on how they relate to the world.
Récolte (Harvest) is a video that displays planting gradually turning into a burial. The conscientious burial shifts the poetic image towards an agonistic denouement. As for the final watering, it marks the absurdity of the gesture.
