For this open studio, which takes place during the artist’s residency at Le Cube – independent art room, Mouhcine Rahaoui presents his current research and the plastic and semantic explorations he deploys during the summer’s lab.
Originally from the mining city of Jerrada, Mouhcine Rahaoui develops projects around the singular history of this city and its inhabitants, strongly impacted by the extraction of coal – officially stopped but still exploited.
Mouhcine Rahaoui’s proposals are ongoing research projects that all attempt to convey this complex history in a language that is both extremely poetic and completely anchored in the material..
