The Austrian artist Michael Blank draws with black ink on white paper using an eagle feather. His drawings reflect his own vision of nature as well as the fascination of creating places, which have never been seen and still have to be invented.
The artist is much more interested in the energy, that creates forms out of chaos and things, which don’t exist yet, than the simple image of a landscape. In his works the romantic tradition to interpret an image of nature as an image of the soul is perpetuated to a place, which is Vrai comme un rêve (“True as a dream”).
In the exhibition Michael Blank also shows a video where two knife blades – made by Blank himself and fixed with black rubber strings – are dancing, dancing together, one with the other, one against the other.
The rhythmic and suggestive background music creates an atmosphere of trance.
A part of the projects presented in Vrai comme un rêve has been produced during his residency at Le Cube – independent art room.
