On the occasion of the summer’s lab, Le Cube – independent art room invites the multidisciplinary artist Abdessamad El Montassir, who graduated from the Institut National des Beaux-Arts in Tetouan and the École Normale Supérieure of Meknes.
During his residency, he carries on with his work in progress Résistance. Résistance is based on an elaborate work process as it is nurtured by several works and research that open spaces for negotiation on identity and territory related questions.
Abdessamad El Montassir is a native of Boujdour, southern Morocco, who analyzes and uses as a starting point for his work the geographical area where he grew up. His artistic imprint has been modeled by both the fragility of his memories and historical narratives.
The work of Abdessamad El Montassir never gives precise temporal landmark, never tries to freeze a single narrative, it remains open for interpretations and allows the continual emergence of new questionings.
The projects developed by the artist will be presented to the public in the form of an open studio at Le Cube – independent art room.
