Marie Ouazzani and Nicolas Carrier are in residence at Le Cube during the months of April and May to continue developing their ongoing project.
Inspired by a human ophthalmological condition — pterygium, also known as palmera in Spanish — the project Yeux rouges palmiers creates a poetic and transcultural link between the global disease affecting palm trees, the alteration of human vision, and climate change.
During their residency at Le Cube, the duo will finalize a new video filmed in the Marrakech palm grove and produce a photographic series exploring the importance of palm trees in traditional architecture and their capacity to conserve water, a precious resource in Morocco.
This residency is supported by the Institut Français du Maroc.
