Sari Palosaari
Sari Palosaari (MFA) is a visual artist working and living in Helsinki, Finland.
In her artistic practice Sari Palosaari is focusing on bodies, objects and materials seen as active agents in architectural space and within space-time continuum more largely.
She often works with existing objects and materials and uses minimal gestures to highlight their own properties, features, affections and relations.
She for example places natural rocks in the space that will autonomously crack during the course of the exhibition.
Sari Palosaari is concerned in creating a new material sensibility in the act of framing and producing knowledge of the other. Her installations are often context sensitive and the process includes contextual reading of the place and space. Her production consists of sculptural installations, performative objects and moving image.
Sari Palosaari’s works have been shown in ia Kiasma Museum of Contemporary Art, Rauma Triennale 2019 in Finland, Turku Kunsthalle in Finland, Varbergs Konsthall in Sweden, Soykmen’s Womens University in Soul and South-Korea and Goldsmith Hall/University of Texas at Austin School of Architecture.
Her moving image works are shown in film festivals and screenings internationally.
Sari Palosaari has finalized a public art work in Uppsala, Sweden, that will be inaugurated soon.
At the moment she works for two public commissions in Finland as well for a commission work for the collection of EMMA Museum of Modern Art.
In 2020 she is selected for the artist in residency in Triangle Residence in New York, USA.
Sari Palosaari has been rewarded with Willian Thuring Prize 2016 and Raimo Utriainen Art prize 2008.
