Edith Payer
The central point in her art practice is to collect and re-contextualize found objects and materials, but also ideologies we casually adopt and discard – thereby questioning how and why we accumulate, order, and recollect. Her interests are especially the reflection and discussion of the anthropocentric perspective for evaluating the world, mostly casting in terms of dualisms, implying evolutionary schemas through which societies inevitably progress.
Her works were shown in many exhibitions including Out of the Box at ACF London, Nach Picasso, Forum Frohner at Kunsthalle Krems, Alle, die hier sind, sind von hier, <rotor> in Zentrum für zeitgenössische Kunst in Graz, Fronteras en cuestión II at Centro de Desarrollo de las Artes Visuales in Havanna, BINATNA / about traces at Le Cube – independent art room and Galerie 127, State of the woman/ Etat de la femme at Cité internationale des Arts in Paris.
She took part in residencies in BKA in Shanghai in Paliano (2016); La Havanna in Cuba (2015); Le Cube – independent art room in Rabat (2012); BMUKK in Paris (2012).
