The performance project INJONCTIONS was born from the desire of Nezha Rhondali, director of the Company Irtijal, to celebrate bodies in their diversity of form and appearance. During her research, accompanied by Kaoutar Chaqchaq, she realized that before arriving at this celebration, she would have to go through a stage of “care”, of purification. A stage in which she, the performers Aïda Jamal and Romane Piffaut, and ultimately the audience would be confronted with a multi-layered reality.
Beauty and health standards affect all bodies, insidiously or grossly. And this, since birth, by the family, the entourage, the media, the social networks, medicine, Art…
But these injunctions are made from the world as we experience it: postcolonial, hierarchical between men and women, able-bodied and disabled, useful and useless bodies, consumable or worn-out bodies.
The performance device INJONCTIONS invites the audience to experience, witness and release the different injunctions made to bodies. Crossing different perspectives to open the debate from the “I”. Indeed, it is not a performance that affirms what one should and should not do to be a free body. It does not lead to a solution against injunctions, in the form of an injunction.
